Paul "Dick" Tilton, age 77, of Carroll passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at his residence in Carroll.

Dick was born on November 9, 1934 in Carroll, and he was the son of Harry and Adah (Peacock) Tilton. Dick was a lifelong resident of Carroll and attended Carroll Public Schools. He worked for HR Cleaners for several years before he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1958 and served three years at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and was trained in radar. He served one year in Labrador Newfoundland before he was honorably discharged in 1962. He was married to Cleo Kaiser on December 30, 1962 at First Presbyterian Church in Paulina, Iowa. Following his military career he attended barber school in Davenport, Iowa. He then returned to Carroll and owned and operated a barber shop for ten years. He then purchased HR Cleaners from H.R. Smith and operated it until his retirement in 1998. Dick was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll, the Carroll American Legion, and the Masonic Lodge. He had a strong work ethic and always kept busy. He enjoyed working on his cars and visiting and making friends wherever he went. His passion were the cats he and Cleo had - Dolly and Buddy.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Edward and Donald Tilton, and a beloved sister-in-law Sharon Wolter whom he always called Sissy.
